Canakkale Martyrs Memorial

The memorial was built in honour of the Turkish soldiers who died in the Gallipoli campaign, the first stones being laid in 1954 and completed on August 1960. With a height of 41.7 metres, it towers over the region and is floodlit at night.

A commemorative stone between the pylons contains couplets of the renowned Turkish poem "For the Fallen" by Mehmet Akif Ersoy, writer of the Turkish National Anthem. In the south west wall of the memorial is the entrance to the museum, which is open daily.
